This is a short video clip of me playing Shinobi on the Sega Master System retro video games console.
This conversion by Sega of their successful Shinobi arcade game was released in Japan in 1988 and later in the US and Europe.
Gameplay was altered somewhat from the arcade original, with the inclusion of a life meter, rather than the original "one hit and you're dead" style of play.
Also, rescuing hostages is now an optional aspect of the game, though it is required for upgrading weapons or for replenishing energy.
This and the other retro gaming clips on this site aren't intended as full game reviews, but are simply to give viewers who weren't around when these games were popular, an idea of what video games used to be like.
